Managing Android Devices Without Android Enterprise (AFW)
If Android Enterprise (AFW) enrollment is not an option for your Android device, you can manage it using AOSP, Knox, or Device Owner modes.
Follow the steps below to create and configure a new management profile using one of these modes.
Step 1: Create an Entity
- Go to the Top Menu.
- Navigate to Operation > Entities.
- Click Add, enter a name for the entity, and configure the required settings.
Note:
In AOSP, Knox, and Device Owner modes, the settings applied to the entity directly affect the Urmobo application, which typically functions as the device's launcher.
As a result, the Android policies provided by Google are not available for these installation methods.
Step 2: Choose the Installation Type
After creating the entity, choose the installation method that will be used to manage the device.
AOSP (Android Open Source Project)
- Supported on Android 4.4 and later.
- Provides access to all features available for the entity.
For detailed instructions, refer to the:
[AOSP Installation Guide]
Device Owner (DO)
- Used in conjunction with the AOSP installation.
- Provides access to advanced device management and control settings.
- To enable this mode, set Urmobo as the Device Owner using ADB.
For more information, refer to the:
[Device Owner Installation Guide]
Important Note:
The additional settings available in Device Owner mode are only accessible if no policy is assigned to the entity.
