Android Device Management Without Android Enterprise (AFW)
If installation via Android Enterprise (AFW) is not an option for your Android device, it can be managed using AOSP, Knox, or Device Owner modes.
Follow the steps below to create and configure a new management profile in these modes.
Step 1: Create an Entity
Access the Side Menu.
Navigate to Management > Entities.
Click Add, enter a name for the entity, and configure the options as needed.
Note: In AOSP, Knox, and Device Owner modes, the settings applied to the entity directly affect the Urmobo app, which usually functions as the device’s launcher.
Therefore, it is not possible to use the Android policies provided by Google in these types of installation.
Step 2: Choose the Installation Type
After creating the entity, define which installation method will be used to manage the device.
AOSP (Android Open Source Project)
- Compatible with Android devices version 4.4 or higher.
- Allows use of all features available in the entity.
- For detailed instructions, see the manual:
[AOSP Installation Manual]
Device Owner (DO)
- Used together with the AOSP installation.
- Provides access to advanced device control settings.
- To activate this mode, set Urmobo as Device Owner using ADB.
- For more information, see the specific guide:
[Device Owner Installation Guide]
Important Note
Additional settings available in Device Owner mode will only be accessible if the entity does not have a policy linked to it.
