When Lock Task mode is enabled, one of the consequences is the restriction of all Android applications and services, except for those explicitly allowed in the management policy.
In this article, we will provide a step-by-step guide on how to identify the packages of these applications/services and correctly add them to the policy.
Step 1: Identifying the Package Name of an Application or Service
To allow an application or service, you must first identify its package name. Follow the steps below:
- Make sure at least one device is linked to the platform.
- Go to the device registration page via Side Menu > Devices.
- Locate the desired device and click on its name.
- Within the device details, scroll down to the Monitoring section (below the map) and click on the Applications tab.
- Find the application or service you want to allow and copy its package name.
The package name always appears between commas, as illustrated in the image below.
Repeat this process for all applications and services that need to be allowed, and save the package names in a text editor (e.g., Notepad) to make the next step easier.
After copying all the necessary data, the next step is to add them to the policy. To do this, follow the step below:
Step 2: Adding Applications to the Policy
With the package names in hand, proceed as follows:
- Go to Side Menu > Management > Policies.
- Find and open the desired policy.
- Scroll to the Applications section.
- In the Application field, paste the copied package name and set the installation type as "Available".
- Repeat this process for all applications and services that need to be allowed.
- Finally, save the policy.
Note: Always use the installation type "Available" when listing Android services or default applications that are already installed on the device.
